For many girls, menstruation is a normal part of growing up. Yet, for a girl living in poverty, her monthly period can become a painful reminder of circumstances beyond her control.

The cost of sanitary products can place a significant burden on families already struggling to meet basic needs. As a result, some girls may miss school, remain at home, use unsafe or unhygienic alternatives, or experience embarrassment and discomfort simply because they cannot afford appropriate menstrual products.

No girl should have to choose between her dignity and her education.

At The Father Heart of God Foundation (TFHOGF), we believe that every child is very special in the eyes of God. This includes protecting the dignity, wellbeing and opportunities of every girl as she grows into womanhood.

OUR MENSTRUAL DIGNITY INITIATIVE

As part of our community outreach efforts, we provide sanitary pads to girls and women who may otherwise struggle to access menstrual hygiene products.

What may appear to be a simple sanitary pad can mean much more to a girl:

• The confidence to attend and participate in school during her period.
• Reduced shame and anxiety associated with menstrual poverty.
• Access to a safer and more hygienic menstrual experience.
• The dignity of being able to manage her period with appropriate products.
• One less financial burden for a family already struggling to provide basic necessities.

Our outreach efforts seek to remind girls that their periods should never limit their dreams, education or sense of worth.

MENSTRUATION SHOULD NEVER INTERRUPT A GIRL'S EDUCATION

Period poverty can become an unseen barrier to education. When girls lack access to appropriate menstrual products, menstruation may contribute to school absenteeism and make it difficult for them to participate confidently in their daily activities.

We therefore see menstrual hygiene support as more than a welfare intervention. It is an investment in the girl child.

By providing sanitary pads alongside our other outreach interventions, we seek to help reduce the barriers that menstruation can create, enabling girls to remain engaged in school, participate in their communities and grow with dignity.

BEYOND THE PAD

Our commitment is not only to distribute sanitary products, but also to promote menstrual health education, dignity, compassion and open conversations around menstruation.

We want girls to understand that menstruation is a natural part of growing up - not something to be ashamed of.

Through our programs, we seek to encourage families and communities to recognize menstrual hygiene as an important part of caring for and protecting the girl child.

EVERY PAD IS A REMINDER

Every sanitary pad we provide carries a simple message:

“You matter. You are worthy. You deserve dignity. Your future should not be interrupted because you are a girl.”

At TFHOGF, we are committed to reaching more girls, supporting vulnerable families and helping remove barriers that can prevent children from experiencing the fullness of the opportunities available to them.
